  • Poetry Competition

    Thu 25 Jun 2015

Reception Class, Year 1 and Year 2 are running a poetry competition during topic fortnight. Please read on to find out how to enter.

    1. Compose your own circus-themed poem or find a published poem on this theme that you would like to share.

    2. Practise the poem at home so that you are ready to perform it.

Going Further: If your poem is short, try learning it off by heart!

It would be great if entries included a wide variety of poetry forms.

Entries must be given to Mr Blake by Friday 3rd July smiley

Some entries will be published on our school website with prizes awarded for winning entries.

Here is a poem written by Mr Blake to get the circus ball rolling.

    Clever clowns juggling.

In the big top, people excitedly gather.

Ready to perform, the acrobat steps up.

    Can you believe your eyes?

Up high, the trapeze flies through the air.

Standing ovation for all who performed.

    Mr Blake

  • School signs are here!

    Thu 25 Jun 2015

The three new school signs, designed by the children, in school!

The designs were all anonymised and voted for by the school council.

Well done to the children whose designs were chosen and made into sturdy aluminium signs which *should* out-live the children and leave a legacy!

  • Year 3 into Year 4 changeover day

  • Welcome to the new children who came for a taster in 'big school'! We all had a lovely time.

  • Sports Day Arrangements

    Thu 18 Jun 2015 L.Andrews

We are keeping the arrangements the same as previous years.

Parents can bring a picnic lunch and find a spot on the field from 11.30am when the gates will open.

Children will be registered at 12pm and then allowed to find their parents and have lunch with them. If parents aren't able to make it children can have lunch with staff and peers. All children that have a school lunch will be provided with a pack up from the school kitchen. Children will return to their teachers to be re-registered at 1pm and then will sit in their house groups under pagodas to be called for their races. We would ask that children stay with staff whilst races are being run as it can delay things if we have to find children. We understand that you may want to congratulate your children however we are responsible for their safety until the handover at the end of the day and would ask you to send children straight back if they have made their way to you.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children will be taken at the end of the event back to the classroom and dismissed as normal to ensure they are reunited safely with parents. Junior children will be allowed to find their parents at the end of the event.  Please ensure that you inform your child's class teacher that you have left the site. If children can't find parents/guardians we would ask they make their way to the office until parents arrive to collect. If we run over, (it isn't unheard of) the last few events may be run in school time the following week.

Throughout the event we have had some marvellous Friends of Camms volunteers who will be running a cafe (proceeds to school projects) if anyone can spare time during the event to help please let the office know.  Also if you have a spare hour on Thurs evening homemade cakes go down a bomb, your support is much appreciated.

All this is assuming the weather holds til Friday, fingers crossed.

  • Support for the Dazzle production

    Mon 15 Jun 2015 L Andrews

    Dazzle

I am sat at my desk listening to the children practicing their songs for the Dazzle production at the end of the year (its sounding amazing).  We are looking for anyone that can support us during this mad preparation period.  We need supporters on the night to do make up and check costumes.  We need avid seamstresses to run up some circus/fairground costumes. We may need some support making sets and gathering props.   If you love amateur dramatics perhaps you could help us run an after/before school club to get the actors perfect.  Whatever support or skills you can share please let us know, our teachers work really hard with the kids during this period and whatever support you can offer we want to draw on your talents and would love you to be involved in the success of this exciting production.

  • School Moderation

Mon 08 Jun 2015 Lucie Andrews

Moderation of Assessment in KS1 and Early Years Foundation Stage.

We have recently been visited by teachers from other schools within the county to identify if the way our teachers mark and assess children's work is broadly similar to others in the county. The moderators work with our teachers to identify if the work the children have done is to the Local Authority standards and that we apply a consistent approach across all the children.

We are pleased to say that the moderators are very happy with the work and assessment of teachers in school and that they both commented on the standard of children's work, could see that the teachers work really hard to maintain the standards and that they are supporting children really well. They both also commented on the lovely atmosphere that is provided in the school and the impeccable behaviour of the children in the classrooms.

Thank you for working with us and your children to enable us to get this fantastic feedback from stakeholders working with school.
