Week 2 - 11th-15th Jan 2021

Nursery Planning (for both am and pm Nursery)

This week we are going to continue our winter topic. There will be activities below, as well as the nursery staff reading the children winter stories. Additionally, we are going to be thinking about 2D shapes.

Our main text for the week will be Elmer in the snow. Therefore, there will be Elmer activities for you to download and use. Please keep checking this page for regular updates as the days go by.

Morning nursery parents: below is a video explaining how to use Mini Mash which is part of Purple Mash. Please watch this. There are lots of lovely activities for your child to access on Mini Mash!

AFTERNOON NURSERY

Try this powerpoint game so that your child becomes more familiar with everyday sounds and can discriminate between them.  Can they make their own sounds around the house using objects, toys and even their own bodies?  (When you download it, click on 'enable editing', then 'slide show' then 'from beginning'.  Make sure the sounds is on too.)

Play Dough

Below is our play dough recipe. Using play dough will strengthen the muscles in the hand, to assist writing. I have included a video of 'dough disco' that your child could follow using their play dough.

Our Play dough Recipe (cooked)

Why not watch the video below and see if you can create a scarf that looks just like Kipper's.  All you need is a piece of paper, a pencil, a red pencil or crayon and a green pencil or crayon.  Please email either Mrs Barton or Miss Hall a picture of your finished scarf.

ICT skills

'Ten Little Lights' - A wonderful online wintry story about a group of animals wandering through the snow to find somewhere to keep warm. Help your child to use and develop their ICT skills to click through the pages.

'One Snowy Night' by Nick Butterworth

A lovely story about a group of animals wanting to get in from the cold.

Snack time

When it is snack time at home, why not set up snack for a few of your toys too.  You could sit them in a circle on the floor or maybe at a table.  I wonder what they would like to eat.

Story time

Toys love to listen to stories too.  Here you can see a few of the toys at Nursery sitting comfortably in the reading den ready for a story.

Why is it so important to wash our hands?

Watch the video below and see why it is so important to keep our hands clean.  Maybe then you can try and explain to your grown-ups why and when it so important to wash them.
