Year 3 - Mrs Paterson

All About Year 3

Welcome to Year 3 and Key Stage 2! In Year 3 the class teacher is Mrs. Paterson and the Teaching Assistant is Miss. Wright. Mrs. Yeomans teaches the class once a week. Miss. Wright will be in the class every day and has already build a great relationship with the children.

Year 3 is the first year of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum and the children will focus mainly on Mathematics and English in the mornings and the wider curriculum in the afternoon. These areas of learning will involve a high level of discussion and practical work. There will be a spelling test each Friday. The spelling words will be sent home but also available on ParentHub.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday so please send children to school in appropriate kit on these days.

There are high expectations on behaviour in Year 3 and children are rewarded with positive praise and recognition for making positive choices and contributions.

Each term a homework sheet will be sent home. Children are expected to complete as many tasks as possible and in return they will earn a reward point. Reward points are collected in order to win a fun afternoon activity, which will be provided on the last day of term.

Year 3 is an action packed year that will be full of fun.
