Literacy: The Day the Crayons Quit

A humorous story about a rogue box of crayons. The Day the Crayons Quit is written by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. Animation done in Adob...

The crayon you pick today will be the one you write to as Duncan so pick the one you can write the most about!

Letter Plan Suggested Format:

Crayon:

Red Crayon

Reason they quit:

He feels overworked. He has to work all of time colouring fire engines, applies and strawberries as well as on holidays to colour Santa's at Christmas and hearts on Valentines Day.

How Duncan feels:

Duncan could feel guilty because he didn't realise how often he was using red crayon or that he uses him at the times when other crayons get to rest. He could also feel surprised as he might have thought that red crayon enjoyed colouring all of those things and didn't realise that he wanted a rest.

How Duncan can get the crayon back:

Duncan can get red crayon back by respecting his feelings. He could do this by showing red crayon he has listened and letting him have a rest. Instead, he could use the pink crayon on Valentines Day. I think this would be a good idea because pink crayon says they're unused and only Duncan's sister uses it so he could help both crayons.

All together this should then give us 3 points to base our paragraphs around, ready to write on Thursday!
