Reception - Mrs Eyre

Welcome to Reception

Your child is officially in big school! It is great to be with them at the start of their journey as a member of the Camms school family and we can't wait to watch as they progress into young, independent learners with a love for school.

We are a lively, hard-working, sociable class of 30 children and 6 adults: Mrs Eyre [class teacher], Mrs Kerry[class teacher on Tuesdays], Mrs Welsh [class teacher one morning a week], Mrs Rotherham, Miss Furniss and Mrs Finch [teaching assistants]. All of our staff share a passion for working with young children and are happy to speak to you about any worries or concerns [probably best to phone under the current situation though].

Our day is centred around learning through play with activities organised both inside and outside. The children have plenty of time to explore, create, question, move, imagine and there are also spaces for quieter activities such as looking at a book or working on a jigsaw. The children will also take part in whole class, small group and one to one tasks with an adult.

We will make full use of our lovely school grounds and will spend lots of time outside [so please make sure they bring a coat everyday].

Please keep checking this page as I will regularly update with letters, photo's, planning and notices. We look forward to spending time with your child over the coming year.

We have lots of lovely activities planned for the festive period, starting with decorating the Christmas tree. We also had a visitor - a little elf who has lost his way from the North Pole

We have been learning about Internet safety with Smartie the penguin. The main message is to tell an adult if anything worries you. The children will be bringing home a leaflet to help support under fives when using the internet. Please take time to look at it.

The children will be bringing home a letter and login details for an internet program we use in school called purple mash. The children have had a go at school but it maybe worth familiarising yourself with the program. The section called minimash has online activities for little ones. PLEASE NOTE YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER AS YOUR CHILD ALREADY HAS AN ACCOUNT -see the letter
Thank you to all those parents have started listening to their child read and practising those purple sound/ word cards. Please remember to write in their red reading record book each time they read. The children are also choosing a library book to bring home to look at with you.
Please do not send your child with big school bags. The cloakroom is getting very squashed! Children only need a bookbag to go in their drawer, water bottle and lunchbox [if not having a school dinner]. No PE kit required yet.
