PHYSICAL EDUCATION
We aim to develop agility, coordination and confidence through physical activity. All pupils get two sessions of P.E. per week. We encourage a competitive spirit while recognising the value of co-operation, fair play and team work. All children are encouraged to participate in both indoor and outdoor activities, ranging from sporting to adventurous. We have fantastic grounds which are used to facilitate all aspects of PE, from team games to orienteering, and offer us the ability to run numerous after-school clubs to compliment the PE teaching in school.
We also provide swimming lessons for junior children (currently provided to Y4) at Eckington Swimming Pool.
Through the use of PE Funding, we offer many opportunities for the children to visit the local secondary school for inter-school competitions, as well as bringing in specialists to develop other physical skills such as the Bikeability scheme.
Included below are files which detail the curriculum progression through the Real PE framework. this framework is based on the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) from the National Curriculum, but break them down into smaller, more progressive steps.
Real PE is new into school for 2017 and teachers are still getting to grips with this exciting new scheme based on the fundamentals of skill mixed with application to games. Some aspects are proving challenging, but the children are loving it!
