Welcome and Order of Service

Welcome: Mr Cocking

Easter

A warm welcome to everyone, and to you at home too.  This remote service now completes our hat-trick of online services, which started with Harvest way back in October.

For that one, rev Andy joined us remotely, but for today we have him in the flesh!  Here he is…

I am also joined by our fabulous readers who are all socially distanced in the hall, say hello readers…

They will all give it a good go today and do everyone proud.

I’m going to apologise now to anyone who gets sea-sick easily.  When I have to introduce readers or move to rev Andy, I will move the camera round, which may cause things to go a  bit blurry.  It’s only for a short time, so I’m sure you’ll all forgive me.

Well, I hope you’ll forgive me – seeing as that is our theme for the term!

Forgiveness – the ability to stop feeling angry towards someone.  That’s what it says in the dictionary.

I have spoken a lot about forgiveness over this term, so make today the day that you put that into action.

Maybe have a think about someone that has hurt you, made you feel sad or done something unkind.  This might have been deliberate or accidental - it doesn't matter.

Don't go up to them and say 'I forgive you', instead DO something that shows forgiveness.  Ask them to join in with your game, offer a smile, ask them to work with you or just say 'Hello'.

By carrying out an action of forgiveness you will make two people feel better, and when people feel better, the world is a nicer place.

Surely that sounds like a plan!

Mr Blake has put together a super service (round of applause to Mr Blake please), and I know we will do it justice.

This is the first time I have been able to run through things, so again, if it goes wrong, I accept full responsibility and ask for your forgiveness.

Video: KS1 Thankful Thought Bubbles (TBC)

Bible Reading: John 12: 12-19 read by a child in Year 5.

The next day the huge crowd that had arrived for the Feast heard that Jesus was entering Jerusalem. They broke off palm branches and went out to meet him. And they cheered:

Hosanna!

Blessed is he who comes in God’s name!

Yes! The King of Israel!

Jesus got a young donkey and rode it, just as the Scripture has it:

No fear, Daughter Zion:
    See how your king comes,
    riding a donkey’s colt.

The disciples didn’t notice the fulfillment of many Scriptures at the time, but after Jesus was glorified, they remembered that what was written about him matched what was done to him.

The Blessing of Bright Days read by a child/ children from Year 3

Springtime comes; the sun shines down

To warm the sleepy ground

Winter’s nap is over,

And New Life is all around!

Jesus shines down on us too

With perfect love and light,

Bringing is a brand-new life.

So happy blessed and bright.

All We Need by Steve Turner read by a child/ children from Year 4

Food in our bellies

Hats on our heads

Water to quench us

Sheets on our beds.

Teachers to teach us

Shoes on our feet

Trousers and T-Shirts

Shelter and heat.

Someone to love us

Someone to love

Hope for the future

Light from above.
