Tuesday 5th July - Proposed Strike by NUT.
You or may not be aware that the NUT have given the date of Tuesday 5th June for discontinuous industrial action.
As a head, I have a duty to ensure the safety of the children and assess the possible dangers this may cause.
Teachers have no legal obligation to inform a headteacher, or anyone else, as to their intentions on this day.
At present, from the information I have, only NURSERY (both morning and afternoon) will close due to the proposed action, with the rest of school being open.
Should this situation change, then I will update you all, via the website, as to further information.
Thank you all for you patience and understanding in this matter.
Mr C.
Text received from Mrs Crotty this morning
All the children enjoyed the evening's activities and day yesterday. Up early for breakfast and now on the bus to visit Hyde Park Corner before going on to HMS Belfast and Sea Life this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing you all this evening.
Sadly, after a Monday morning pitch inspection by myself and Mrs P, the field is still too wet to use.
The forecast for later today, also gives rain around 10.00 am, so that doesn't help either.
We are currently looking at the school calendar to find a date, after the show, for the event to take place. The children will definitely get their chance to race and compete, but it could be very short-notice.
We are a school that loves sport and so this is a huge disappointment, but we are also a school that likes to keep children as safe as possible.
Apologies again to all.
Mr C.
Hey All
Apologies to anyone that has taken time off on Friday for Sport's Day.
The forecast is showers for Friday and I would rather have a number of disgruntled parents than a raft of sprained ankles, broken wrists or worse due to a slippy track (the kids don't half belt round the track, and the corners are dangerous when wet).
So, fingers crossed for Monday and I hope to see you then.
Many thanks for your understanding.
Mr C.
