Mrs Paterson Year 6

All About Us

Welcome to Year 6 at Camms!

Year 6 is an exciting and important year at Camms, filled with opportunities for learning, growth and making lasting memories. The class is led by Mrs Paterson, who brings energy, expertise and a commitment to preparing the children for their transition to secondary school.

Supporting the class throughout the week are our fantastic teaching assistants, Mrs Hagan and Mr Webb, who provide invaluable help across all areas of learning. On Mondays, we are lucky to have Mrs Yeomans join us to offer valuable support. On Tuesday morningsMrs Eyre covers Mrs Paterson’s PPA time, bringing knowledge and experience while ensuring continuity and care in our learning environment.

Year 6 is a busy, important and rewarding year, packed with engaging lessons, exciting trips, and a much-anticipated residential visit. These experiences are designed to enrich the curriculum and give children the chance to build independence, teamwork skills and happy memories of their final year at Camms.

Our PE days are Monday and Friday, so children should come to school in their PE kit on those days, ready to enjoy physical activity and develop their fitness and teamwork skills.

To help every child reach their full potential, we encourage regular time spent on homework. Practising key skills at home supports classroom learning and helps children build confidence and independence in preparation for the challenges of Year 6. Key areas to focus on are reading, Rollama, spellings and times tables.

Together, the Year 6 team is dedicated to creating a classroom where every child succeeds, is challenged and inspired to do their best. We look forward to a year of hard work, laughter and unforgettable moments.
