Important Information

Welcome to Reception!

Miss Furniss will be leading learning Monday to Thursday. During her planning morning on Fridays Miss Yeomans will be covering learning; in which children will take part in Forest Bush Crafts and all the outdoor fun this entails!

Mrs Rotherham supports learning every morning and on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Mrs Hurst supports learning every afternoon. Also, Miss Wright, Mrs Hagin and Miss Fuller will be supporting in class throughout the week.

Learning within Reception is shaped around the 'Development Matters' non statutory curriculum and will have the children's unique development, needs and interests at the core. The majority of learning experiences will be practical and play based both indoors and outdoors (in all weathers), with our adults present to help build upon their experiences and knowledge. As well as this, there will be more formal lessons including; literacy, phonics, maths, PSHE, Music, P.E and R.E.  

Due to the play and sensory approach children will often come home messy, don't worry this is a sign that they have had a busy, fun filled day learning. As mentioned previously we will enjoy the outdoors come rain or shine so please ensure that your children are equipped with a waterproof coat and if you would prefer wellies can be brought to keep at school. 

The following will show important days of the week this term, in which certain things will be needed: 

Tuesdays/ Friday: PE - Children to come to school dressed in their P.E kit. This can consist of their school uniform top or plain white t-shirt; shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms. As well as secure trainers. 

Fridays: Forest Learning  - Children should be provided with a Waterproof Coat/ Puddle Suit and Wellies. This can be left at school for the foreseeable or brought in each Friday morning. Children should still come in P.E kits this day too, inline with the weather. With wellies being changed to P.E trainers after forest learning. 

Earrings should always be taped up or removed for school. If taping over earrings this should be done before coming to school, as staff cannot do this for the children. When earrings are not taped or removed, this unfortunately means that the child will not be able to play outside or take part in P.E. 

Additionally, inline with our school policy please only provide your child with water in their bottles. From this, we have a water machine that can be accessed throughout the school day.
