  • Early Years Special Educational Needs (Nursery targeted) The Early Years Special Educational Needs Service (EYSEN) is a team of specialist support staff who work with pre-school children in early years settings (nurseries etc.) or at home. The earlier that a child's needs are identified, the earlier their needs can be met. This has been shown to improve long-term outcomes for children.

  • Sensory Processing Needs Sensory processing needs (SPN) are recognised as significant barriers to children and young people’s (CYP) learning. Neurodiversity Hubs Derbyshire

Neurodiversity covers many conditions: Autism Spectrum, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Foetal alcohol syndrome, dyslexia, dyspraxia, social anxiety and over 30 other conditions.

 

When identified early, children, young people and their families can get the right support and understand what is happening not only to them individually but how that fits into daily life and what next steps are available.

 

Some families want a diagnosis. Others say if they had more help and support early on, they would not seek an assessment for a formal diagnosis.
