School closure 15th January

Dear Parents / Carers

School Closure 15th January 2021

In order to protect the safety of children and staff I have taken the difficult decision to close school tomorrow.

The journey home yesterday for many of you, and the majority of staff, was horrendous, and with freezing temperatures and more snow forecast (in some areas), I am worried about the safety of all concerned. The roads in and out of Eckington were strewn with abandoned cars, and we all know what Castle Hill is like when icy.

I hope that by making an early decision, it helps with your arrangements for tomorrow.

On-line learning will be available, but if you are unable to access a device t short notice, then please DO NOT get in a tangle – do what you can (reading,  spelling, tables etc).  Staff will arrange for an online meeting as a catch-up.  If you can make it, please do; if you don’t make it, you won’t miss anything.

I have spoken to Rev Andy, our Co-Chair of Governors, who also agrees that safety should be the main concern, and I know that

many of you need to drive to school too.

Please share with everyone in the school community – I don’t want anyone making an unnecessary journey.

If it turns out to be glorious spring day when the sun is out and birds are singing, then I apologise in advance.

If you have any questions, please contact me directly at

headteacher@camms.derbyshire.sch.uk rather than teachers.

Stay safe and stay well
