Please bring book bags to school everyday as we read and change reading books as often as possible.
We also enjoy practising our spellings and playing maths games at home using Active Learn and the Purple Mash website. We will also be using a new website called Spag. com. to practice our punctuation and grammar.
We are working towards our Year 2 SAT s and practice everyday.
This autumn term's topic is called Bears, Bamboo and the Bumble bee. It is a cross-curricular topic based on the Year 2 science curriculum.
Also every child has been given a password for Spag.com. This is in the cover of their reading record book. This is an interactive programme for children to assess at home their spelling, punctuation and grammar work.

Children are taught to practise their spellings using the method: Read > Write > Cover > Check.
Spellings will be sent home every Monday for children to learn. Set spellings will then be assessed in a spelling quiz on Mondays.
Spelling Levels
Children will continue to get the opportunity this year to demonstrate their knowledge of spelling high frequency words in Year 2. Children will be awarded certificates for the relevant phase if they score 100% in an assessment quiz in class.
You can support your child's progress through these spelling levels by downloading the phase word grids and practising the words they find tricky at home. Please follow the link below.
Spelling and Grammar
Year 2 children use a personal login to access spelling and grammar activities on the SPaG.com website. Completing set activities on this website will support the children in their progress towards the expected standard in the end of key stage assessment.
