Y1 Wedding Project

 

Year 1 had a fantastic day today (Monday 9th July) celebrating Lilly and Frankie's wedding! The children worked very hard making invitations, writing speeches, baking and planning the service. Thank you to all of you who came along to the service and to all those who helped make the day such a success. 

Maypole Dancing

 

Year 1 enjoyed learning some maypole dances this morning (Monday 8th June). Here are few action shots from the lesson.

Y1 Tennis

 

Year 1 are enjoying weekly tennis lesson over the course of the summer term. Here a few photos of members of Y1 developing their skills.

R.E. Gospel Unit

Year 1 visited Eckington church to finish of our Gospel unit of work. The children thought about what reminds Christians about the friendship, forgiveness and peace of God in church. They also found places in our schools where we see examples of these Christian values.

Easter Egg Competition

Easter Baking

 

Y1 enjoyed the opportunity to do some Easter baking today (Wednesday 21st March) with Mrs Riley. Here are a few photos of the children displaying their baking skills.

Healthy Teeth Workshop

 

Year 1 enjoyed a workshop about keeping your teeth healthy today. The children found out lots of interesting facts about how they could look after their teeth. Make sure you have a go at your teeth cleaning diaries at home.

Book Day

 

Our rearranged book day took place today (Thursday 15th March). Have a look at the photos below to see the children's favourite book characters.

Chocolate by Design Workshop

The children had a fantastic day today (Tuesday 12th March) learning, thinking and even tasting chocolate. Make sure you ask your child what they were able to find out.

Multi-Skills Festival

 

Y1 had a great afternoon (Thursday 15th February) at Eckington School this afternoon where the children attended a multi-skills festival. Check out some action shots from the afternoon below...

Balance Bikes

 

Y1 worked hard this morning (Thursday 15th February) developing their cycling skills by completing a session in the hall using balance bikes. Check out some action shots below...

Robo-Mouse

 

Year 1 enjoyed using a resource we were able to purchase using the money we raised at the Christmas fair today (Monday 12th February). The children were challenged to give Robo-Mouse a clear set of instructions (algorithm). 

Weather Forecasters 

 

Year 1 had a go at giving their own weather forecasts today (Tuesday 6th February). See below for a few action shots.

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Members of Year 1 had a great time testing out their kites on the playground. It was good seeing many of the kites flying well. What do you think kept the kites from falling to the ground?

Y1 Class Assembly

 

Well done Year 1 for a brilliant class assembly today (Friday 2nd February). We hope you all enjoyed it!

Handwashing

We were visited by school health who taught us all about washing our hands to get rid of germs. We did the glitterbug experiment to show how germs[glitter] spreads easily. We investigated the best way to get rid of the germs - soap and water!!

Making Streamers

 

Year 1 enjoyed making streamers today (Wednesday 3rd January). The children were able to take their streamers outside and observe the strength of the wind.

PANTS

 

Year 1 have been learning NSPCC's PANTS rule. Click on the links below for more information.

Forest Schools

 

Year 1 braved the elements today (Thursday 19th October) and enjoyed some outdoor learning. The children found out lots about trees and looked for evidence of wildlife. Year 1's remaining Forest School sessions will take place on a Wednesday (Wednesday 1st November,  Wednesday 8th November, Wednesday 15th November,  Wednesday 22nd Nov, Wednesday 29th November).

Shape Hunt

 

Year 1 have been busy hunting for shapes this week (week commencing Monday 16th October). Check out the slideshow below to see which shapesn they were able to identify.

Library Visit

 

Year 1 had a great time at the library this afternoon (Thursday 5th October). The children enjoyed an animal-themed story and completed an animal challenge in teams. 

The Owl Experience

 

The children had a great time today (Monday 2nd October) learning about owls. The children got to hold different owls and found out lots of fascinating facts. 

March of the Penguins

 

The children have been busy making penguins with jumping clay this week. Have a look at their efforts below.

Library Visit

 

Y1 are visiting Eckington library on Thursday 5th October (PM). If you can help with this visit, please speak to Mr Blake.
