PE

PE - Physical Education

So, this needs to be a bit of both:

  • Physical - Movement, energy and activity
  • Education - Learning something new.
  •

That's why just 'playing footy' isn't PE.  There needs to be an element of learning within the activity you do.

As with most things that we are asking you to do at home, this can be easily found with a little unpicking.

Learning something new come in many, many forms:

Learning to win graciously - no one will play agin if you are a poor winner

  • Learning to lose graciously - no one likes a sore loser
  • Improving a skill - increasing your proficiency
  • Improve your decision making - pass or shoot?  run or stand?
  • Improve your fitness - turning 10 press-ups into 11
  • New skills - skipping?
  • Improving your accuracy - better throwing, shooting
  • Better teamwork - encouraging others is vital
  • More motivation - when the going gets tough, the tough get going!

So this page has links to lots of videos that can help in many sports, pastimes and activities related to PE.

I always say to the children - play to win, but be prepared to lose!

SPORTS DAY

In the absence of a proper sports day, I had asked for some videos and photos of the 'Sock Sports' to be sent in.

The idea would have been for me to put together a montage-style video oft he events, but seeing a the files were too big, I have put them on the PE page instead (but you already know that, because you are reading it)

Many thanks t everyone who has sent one in.  I *think* I have uploaded them all.  If you have sent one in, but don't see it, let me know and i will scour the files again.

Well done everyone!

Joe Wicks

This page would not be a PE page without Joe Wicks.

His effort, enthusiasm and overall outlook are to be applauded, and to do this with one hand (does he mention he broke it?).

The channel is 'The Body Coach' and apart from the 'PE With Joe' videos, he goes into a lot of other conditioning work - especially for grown-ups.  (Kids, get your Mums and Dads going too!)

Qualitas

Qualitas provide us with in-school PE sessions designed to broaden the experiences of the children and also provide CPD to staff.  As part of this service, they have provided us with a number of videos to help with PE during lockdown.

Cosmic Yoga

Bringing the energy down a little is Cosmic Yoga.  A quiet area of the web where stories and yoga are brought together.

This is probably a place for the younger children, mainly due to the delivery style, but older ones may enjoy 'going back to the infants' for a while.

At the heart of this, is yoga mediation and moves for a more peaceful few minutes.

Fundamentals in PE

The basics of PE are as easy as ABC

  • A - Agility
  • B - Balance
  • C - Coordination

This set of videos, from Prime Coaching, is for all age groups, and is very 'teachery'.  The videos are directed in the same way that a typical PE lesson is run, and so is helpful when you are 'teaching PE' as opposed to 'doing PE'

No Equipment Games

Some require larger families - no inviting people round!  But most can be done with the family you have in the space you've got.

Dance Lessons

This is part of a playlist from the 'Kennedy Center Education Digital Learning'

Get your Strictly on!  These links are for a number of dance lessons.  Great exercise, great fun and with practice, when we are allowed back out into the big wide world, you've nailed the dancefloor.

African Dance - on the clock!

Merengue

Cha Cha Cha

These are all 'Level 1' videos.  Depending on how long we are in this for, feel free to advance!

Lego Challenges

This might be out of place on a PE page, but the getting up and down and crawling on the floor takes some effort!
It’s good to hear that so many of you are getting outside- the fresh air and exercise is vital for our little ones. As the weather is due to break up next week why not google go noodle, Jack Hartman, supermovers or the learning station for some fab dances to keep everyone active! Enjoy
