Topic 1: Bears, Bamboo and Bumble Bees

This topic will extend children's understanding about our world. Through the topic they will explore and compare the differences between things that are living, dead, and things that have never been alive. The children will also learn that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited. The children will consider carefully how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other. This knowledge will be demonstrated in variety of ways, including through the use of simple food chains. Please download our topic map by clicking on the link below.

Please try and take opportunities at home to extend your own knowledge and understanding at home during this topic. A big well done to William who has already shared some facts about bears with the rest of the class.
