Reception Class Information
Teacher: Mrs Rachael Eyre
Mrs Jill Welsh/ Mrs Lucy Kerry
Teaching Assistants; Mrs Julie Rotherham, Mrs Pam Fawcett, Miss Parkin
Hours: 8:55-3:15
Please use the gates next to the Nursery pathway and bring your child through the Reception Class Cloakroom. Feel free to help your child locate their coat peg and drawer. The children then go into the Quiet Room ready for Register.
Snack: The children are given a piece of fruit every day. This is provided by the Local authority as part of the ‘fruit for schools’ scheme and is free of charge. Milk is also occasionally available.
Drinks: We have a water cooler to provide cold drinking water throughout the day, therefore children do not need to bring a drink to school until Y1.
Illness: Please inform school by telephone if your child is going to be absent from school. We also require a letter on your child’s return to school. Please inform the main office if your child needs to be given medicine or tablets throughout the day. Any inhalers etc need to be provided with clear instructions on the first day back.
PE: PE kit of shorts and white t-shirt will be required from September. Please name them. Pumps or trainers will be required in the Summer Term. Most children leave their PE bags in school for a full half term. No jewellery please.
Uniform: Please name all uniform, coats, shoes, lunchboxes etc. Please make sure your child has a waterproof coat with them every day. If the weather is drizzly, we may still go outside. Similarly, please ensure your child brings a hat and wears sunscreen on the warmer days.
Toys: Please do not send any toys to school as they may get lost or broken.
Homework: Your child will bring home a Reading pack containing a book to look at with you, words to practise reading and a comment book for you to write in. The first books contain no words but are useful to talk about, make up stories etc. Children are much more successful readers if adults support them by looking at their reading books often with them.
Lateness: Our gates are locked at 9:00am, so if your child arrives after this time please use the main entrance and sign the ‘Late Book’. Please inform school if you are going to be late collecting your child or if someone new is collecting your child.
Behaviour: We work hard to ensure our children treat each other with respect. Please encourage your child to talk to an adult if they feel unhappy or unsafe. Hitting back is not allowed.
If you have any concerns please speak to a member of staff. We are always happy to chat to you.
