Everyday in class, we do a daily "speed challenge" which allows the children to practice different mathematical skills. They can choose to work on doubling, halving, place value, rounding, fractions, multiplication, division and a variety of other important maths skills. This constant practice and "overlearning" of the skills is very important to help them become confident mathematicians.

This document can be downloaded and used to accompany any reading you may do with your child. Each page includes questions which will help your child improve the key reading skills: vocabulary knowledge, retrieval, summarising, inference, prediction and authorial intention.
These are the reading skills which we work on at school and are assessed regularly throughout the term. They are vital skills which will enable your child to become competent, independent readers. You can use any of the cards whilst listening to your child read and with regular use they will prove beneficial in developing your child's comprehension skills.
If you have any questions about how to use them, do not hesitate to come and ask me.

Times Tables Rockstars
The whole school has been introduced to TT Rockstars to help boost times tables practice in school and at home. In the game, the children can practice their tables, play against other people and earn coins to acquire new outfits and accessories for their "Rockstar" avatar. The children have thoroughly enjoyed trying it out in school.
I have set children specific times tables which they currently need to work on - more will be added when they improve with the recall of the ones already set. This will be an on-going homework throughout the year. Access via the link below.
Other Times Tables Games
The children have been introduced to Tommy's Trek, Hit the Button and a times table racing game which they have enjoyed trying out in school. All of these games will prove beneficial in helping them practice their times tables if they access and enjoy them at home too.
