ART and DESIGN

Art is for most pupils a natural form of expression and a source of great pleasure. Pupils are taught about basic techniques and are given the opportunity to explore and use a range of materials. Children are taught about colour, shape, form, tone, line, pattern and texture. They are encouraged to enjoy and appreciate works of art, both traditional and modern.

DESIGN and TECHNOLOGY

This subject enables children to use their knowledge and understanding to and make an object using tools and materials appropriately, and then to consider the suitability of the finished article. Children progress through a range of practical tasks to enable them to develop a range of skills.

These subjects are closely linked and are often taught together.  When this happens, the specific learning objectives for each subject are made explicit thus developing skills in each subject area.
