SAFEGUARDING

On our first INSET day, staff engaged in safeguarding training to ensure that we are all aware of the statutory requirements, recommendations and internal procedures to help keep our children safe.  This was followed up with separate training for our MDS and anyone who could not make the initial training.

This page contains all of the information that was discussed, and is generally termed 'The Safeguarding Folder'.  This folder is actually two folders, and contains the paper copies of the procedures and policies that we use.  These folders are kept in an easily accessible place so that ALL staff can access them when needed.

Sometimes, safeguarding involves some very difficult conversations and subsequent actions. All decision made are done so with the child as the focus.  This may mean engaging with external services such as The Grange (our excellent Childrens' Centre), Derbyshire Starting Point (Derbyshire County Council's safeguarding service), Social Care or others too numerous to mention.  If we make the decision to refer to external services, it does not mean that there is a 'problem', someone is abusing a child, we are being judgemental or that parents are at fault.  It means that we have a concern about the welfare of the child and we may able to engage someone who can help, give guidance or give reassurance that things are fine.  So if we have a conversation about your child, please be open-minded and understand that we have a duty of care to fulfil.

Policies and Procedures

Below are the policies and procedures that are part of our safeguarding folders.  This policies were agreed at the Full Governing Body meeting on the 24th September (FG240918.14), with Maggie Brough and Sarah Hutton coming into to school at the end of the week to have a second-reading and signing.

Many of these are statutory documents, and their adoption is mandatory, but many are school-only policies which need discussion to ensure they reflect our school.

If there is a policy or piece of information that you feel would be of benefit, please email info@camms.derbyshire.sch.uk and we will see what we can do.
